A lack of linguistic and cultural knowledge among moderators has become a point of concern in places like Kenya, where disinformation is rampant on TikTok leading up to the general election.

Fintech companies were at the fore, taking 39% of all investments, which was followed closely by e-commerce companies at 25%. All in all, the $15.7 billion total adds up to more than Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East combined.
