Reporting Global Tech Stories

Translations

To date we have translated over 50 stories into different languages; including Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Nepali, Portuguese, and Spanish. This has been part of an ongoing effort to bring coverage of important subjects to the readers it affects the most.

We continue our commitment to use professional human translation for key stories as we have done before. There is also a benefit in providing machine translations as a service to our readers.

As a starting point we are using Google Translate to provide versions of almost every one of our stories in Portuguese and Spanish. In time we look to increase the number of supported languages as we monitor usage and identify audiences that may benefit.

We understand that there can be issues with the accuracy, reliability, or correctness of any translation made from English into any other language. Some content (such as captions, embedded content, videos, etc.) may not be accurately translated due to the limitations of the translation software.

At times we may limit the range of stories available for machine translated, or exclude individual stories based on translation performance, overall sensitivity, or incompatibility with page elements. Where a story already has a human translation we will always direct our readers to that.

If any questions arise related to the accuracy of the information contained in the translated story, refer to the original story.
