We’re excited to announce that Munira Mutaher is starting as our new Assistant Photo Editor.

Munira Mutaher is a documentary photographer, photo editor and researcher based between London, UK and Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is currently completing a Social Anthropology masters at Goldsmiths University of London where her research focuses on visual archives and photobooks and their relations to class and post-colonial nation-building, looking in particular at documentary images from Sri Lanka’s post-independence period.

At Rest of World, Munira will be responsible for image selections, story layouts, Instagram management, asset creation, and managing Rest of World’s freelance photographer roster. She will work closely with our team of reporters to create unique visual experiences for upcoming stories, assign original photography and illustration, and pitch stories. She will report to the Photo Editor, Cengiz Yar.
