DareOkoudjou
After working as a management consultant in Paris, Dare Okoudjou, who is originally from Benin, joined MTN, Africa’s largest mobile phone network, where he helped develop its early mobile money strategy. But he soon turned his sights on improving the transfer of money across the continent by founding MFS Africa, a digital payments company in 2009. Last year it hit more than 320 million mobile money wallet users and is focusing on secure transfer options for underbanked consumers and emerging small and medium-size businesses. After its $100 million series C funding round in November 2021, it is now looking to enable better interoperability between different payment networks and countries within Africa and between the continent, China, and the U.S.
