Fatoumata Ba, the Senegalese-born managing partner and founder of Janngo’s venture capital fund, leads the investments into Pan-African startups with a “tech for good” remit. The 60 million euros ($63.2 million) fund she has been raising is focused on empowering female entrepreneurs as well as health tech and edtech. Ba believes in the power of elevating technology to propel socially conscious “leapfrog development” on the continent, beyond just market entries and exits. Ba is a veteran of the African tech space, as the founding CEO of e-commerce unicorn Jumia’s Ivory Coast office as well as a former managing director at Jumia Nigeria.
